Netsurfer and Com21 Enter Strategic Partnership

Netsurfer Software Supports Com21's DOXport® 1110 Cable Modems

MILPITAS, Calif. and ATLANTA, Feb. 5, 2001 --- Com21, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMTO), a leading global provider of system solutions for the broadband access market, and Atlanta-based Netsurfer, Inc., a leading supplier of software that simplifies Internet subscription, set-up, and ongoing subscriber management, announced today that Netsurfer's provisioning and management software supports Com21's DOXport 1110 cable modems. The combined solution will enable cable companies to reduce installation times, prevent secondary truck-rolls, and increase operational efficiency.

NetKit® Cable Edition 5.1 subscriber management software allows cable operators to create a two-way communications channel to their subscribers, deliver targeted content and services, and promote brand awareness through the Internet Desktop Application. The dynamic software delivery feature enables the cable operator to keep the end user's software updated and functioning properly. In addition, either the subscriber at home or the access provider at a remote location can restore all connectivity and Internet application software to its initial "known good" configuration via a self-correcting "First Aid" feature built into the software.

"We are pleased to be working with Netsurfer," said Ehsan Rashid, vice president of Com21's Access Products Division. "The ease of installation offered by this combined solution is a great way for cable operators to expand their services."

"Using our 5.1 Cable Edition software with Com21's DOXport 1110 cable modem will significantly reduce installation times, eliminate errors, and prepare the MSO for a retail environment," said Stephen Walden, president and chief operating officer at Netsurfer. "We are very happy that Com21 has selected us as one of the total provisioning solutions they bring to their customers."
