DreamNet
to Distribute
Custom Subscriber
Software
from Netsurfer,
Inc.
ATLANTA,
GA (January 24,
2001) —
Netsurfer, Inc., a
leading provider
of advanced
subscriber acquisition, provisioning and management solutions for broadband and dialup
Internet access
providers
worldwide,
announced today
that it has been
selected by DreamNet
Corporation,
a subsidiary
of NTT Data
Corporation of
Japan, to license
its subscriber
acquisition
and management
software, NetKit®
Dial-Up Edition as
its single source
for subscriber
sign-up,
account
provisioning,
network quality
monitoring
and
communication for
all DreamNet
subscribers.
NTT
Data’s DreamNet project chose the Netsurfer product for its
ability to
completely
automate the
sign-up process
and install all
subscriber
software with
little need for
technical support.
Netsurfer’s
proven
fifth-generation
product installs
multiple Internet
applications and
self-provisions
the subscriber’s
PC for Internet
access.
Once
installed, NetKit
enables DreamNet
to deliver
information,
software updates,
advertising,
applications and
other targeted
content
directly to
subscribers via
the customized, DreamNet-branded
NetKit Internet
Desktop
Application.
For the
project, Netsurfer
developed a
double-byte
version of its
software for
translation into
the Japanese
language and
customized the
product for
Japanese
conditions.
“DreamNet
plans to
distribute
Netsurfer’s
NetKit Dial-up
software to 50,000
subscribers initially
throughout
Japan,” said Tetsuji
Hayakawa, director of sales and
marketing
division
at
DreamNet.
“As we expect to
grow very rapidly,
we are pleased to
be able to take
advantage of
Netsurfer’s
technology to sign
up and serve our
subscribers.
Netsurfer
worked very
closely with us to
build a solution
for the Japanese
market, and it
meets our
expectations very
well.”
“We
are delighted to
be working with
NTT Data’s DreamNet
project,” said
Jeff Russell, CEO
of Netsurfer.
“We
believe the
Japanese market is
one that reflects
tremendous growth
in the years ahead
and are quite
pleased to be
moving forward
with them as
long-standing
partners in the
future.”
